PlayStation Plus has announced its monthly games lineup for August. PlayStation Plus subscribers will have access to three new games starting from August 1. Tech giant Microsoft has said that Sony is expected to release a PlayStation 5 (PS5) Slim model later this year at $399.99 (roughly Rs 33,000). The information was furnished by the company’s documents as a part of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) versus Microsoft case. “PlayStation likewise sells a less expensive Digital Edition for $399.99, and is expected to release a PlayStation 5 Slim later this year at the same reduced price point,” the company said in the documents, as reported by The Verge. Microsoft also mentioned in the footnote of the documents that Sony is also likely to launch a handheld version of PlayStation 5 later this year for under $300. But this is not exactly accurate. Pokemon GO game developer Niantic has announced that it is laying off around 230 employees, sunsetting NBA All-World and stopping production on Marvel: World of Heroes. A DDoS attack on Blizzard’s Battle.net online service caused a lot of trouble for Diablo IV over the weekend. Players could not access Diablo IV, World of Warcraft, and other Blizzard titles and were very frustrated. The Battle.net service faced serious disruptions from an apparent DDoS attack since the early hours of Sunday morning. Players faced high latency and frequent disconnections, making the games impossible to play. Tech giant Microsoft was planning to develop a separate version of Xbox Cloud Gaming (xCloud) that won’t be dependent on the premium Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription. On Thursday, at the hearing regarding the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) versus Microsoft case, the FTC’s attorney disclosed that the tech giant had been developing a “dedicated xCloud SKU” last year, reports The Verge. “Xbox would very much like to do it,” Sarah Bond, head of Xbox creator experience, had said in September last year. The company’s decision has now been strangely modified in response to regulatory concerns about cloud gaming. “We’ve continued to get more data about the success and the popularity of xCloud. We’ve gotten more clear on the costs related to it, and we have signed partnerships with others who provide those services,” said Bond. Tech giant Sony has announced that it is testing cloud streaming for “supported” PlayStation 5 (PS5) games. The company is planning to add this ability as an additional benefit to the PlayStation Plus Premium subscription. “We’re currently testing cloud streaming for supported PS5 games– this includes PS5 titles from the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog and Game Trials, as well as supported digital PS5 titles that players own,” Nick Maguire, VP of global services, global sales and business operations at Sony Interactive Entertainment, said in a blogpost on Wednesday. “When this feature launches, cloud game streaming for supported PS5 titles will be available for use directly on your PS5 console.” Maguire further mentioned that this feature is currently in the early stages. Earlier this month, game developer Krafton announced that it had secured approval for the relaunch of BGMI from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), albeit with some conditions. While making the announcement, the company had said that it will be available on a trial-basis in the country for three months, post which the government will make a final decision about its availability in the long term.
